Aveng Limited, the construction-related group, reported an excellent set of interim results today for the six months to December 2002. Revenues increased by 18 % to R6 968.9 million while headline earnings were up 23% to R189.7 million. In line with its forecasts made at the June 2002 year end, Aveng's diluted headline earnings per share growth was 23% to 48.7 cents per share.

McConnell Dowell Corporation Limited, the Australian listed 63% owned subsidiary of Aveng Limited, reported good results for the six months to 31 December 2002. Group turnover at AUD$346.6 million was 31% up on the corresponding period last year. However, this included one off revenue for the Sasol pipeline project, on which McConnell Dowell is part of the consortium which includes Grinaker - LTA, another Aveng group company. Group profit was 36% higher at AUD$4.585 million.
